update on my son

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted in a while but a lot has happened. My son got in trouble several times with the police after we kicked him out in June. In August we let him back in and he again broke every rule we had agreed on and so we told him he could not stay here. He was staying with friends and again got in trouble with the police. Stupid petty stuff but it adds up. So 3 weeks ago at court his ball was revoked and he went to jail. This might be the best thing that ever happened to him. He absolutely hated jail. He was bored to death and has never done well with boredom. We started talking to him about his drug use because really that is one of the roots of his problems. We got him a lawyer who talked with probation, the DA and the judge and he ended up pleading guilty and got a suspended sentence and was ordered into a 90 day treatment program. So he is now at this wonderful program that isi very small and individualized. He has admitted to s that his drug use was much more than just pot (isn't that always the case). I am releived the court system finally acted and worked. And for me it turns out that kicking him out, letting him get in trouble and land in jail, may be the best thing we could have done. Just wanted to share for other parents who are struggling with if that is the right thing to do. Sometimes it is.
