Is there someone who can fix this forum? It's not working right.

I am finding that posts are vanishing and then a couple days later re-appear. There are times I am certain that someone needs to vent, state a concern or ask a question and would appreciate an answer sooner rather than later. I attempted to post yesterday to no avail. It would not upload. Thanks in advance to whoever is able to fix this. Is anyone else having the same problems?

Hi Cindy. I've been having the exact same problems you describe on my desktop but, strangely, not on this laptop. Here I see everything that, at the very same moment, is missing from the desktop. But last night on this computer something I wrote posted twice - and another vanished when I tried to run a spell check.

Until you wrote, when I realized the difference between these two computers, I assumed my desktop was malfunctioning.

Thanks for reminding me on the other thread to accept baby steps.

I'll let you know when we get your brother's package. All the best.

THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT WORKING.

Here I am again on my PC, just to see what's going on with the tech problems. It indicates that the last post was TC's on 3/21 at 2:01 AM when, in fact, I just posted 3 or even 4 messages - one on a new thread - from my laptop. Nothing is visible here.

If HMH doesn't respond tomorrow, Monday, than I'm going to e-mail David Sheff and ask him to contact whoever oversees this sight. Sound like a plan?

Hi,
We apologize for the inconvenience. We are trying to recreate the problem here and it would help to get some additional information.

Can you please let us know the Operating System Windows/Mac?, what version?, the kind of browser you are using on your machines (desktop, laptop) and one or more messages that are missing? [you can either post or email to tradewebmaster@hmhpub.com]

Thanks.

The site was working.....now all is vanished, posts are missing and it is as was once again. This is unfortunate as there were some great posts made in the past 24 hours.

This is very frustrating, and I feel particularly bad for people who are trying to join us now.

It seems to me that nobody really moderates the forum. I just went to the HMH home page and, when I couldn't find a tech support link, used "contact us." Have no idea if it will help, but this is what I sent:

PLEASE NOTE: The "Beautiful Boy" forum for
"sharing our stories" is not working properly. We are often unable to access replies on a given thread. It will indicate, for example, that there are "3" replies and none are visible. Sometimes they are one day, but disappear the next. Often, I cannot access the second page of a thread. Many of us also have intermittently experienced difficulty posting: we write, send, and our post disappears. Particularly given the nature of this forum, where time is often of the essence for those who are seeking help, it is critical that it work properly. Please intervene. The "Beautiful Boy" forum is helping countless families. We are grateful for your interest and assistance.

P.S.

I am not a technological person, but did have a thought as a result of my own experience. The problems I'm having with the forum are strictly on my desktop, which is a PC. I have no problems (except when I lost something the other night before posting it) on the laptop - a Mac. Could it have something to do with PC vs. Mac? That would be unfortunate but, hopefully, easily resolved at HMH?

For those of you who are also having problems, such as Cindy, can you replicate my own little experiment? You need to have both a PC and Mac.

Now, at the risk of sounding like a complete technological fool, is it possible that we've used too many megabytes since the forum's inception and deletion of old ones would bring us up to speed? I'm groping for explanations but, as I said, I know virtually (bad pun intended) nothing.

Regardless, I hope a tech person at HMH reads our messages and fixes this soon.

It really is a "browser" cache issue---it can be resolved by clearing the cache on your browser. We are working on our end to resolve it so it does not continue to be an issue.

Thanks for your patience.

We appreciate your prompt intervention. I'll save the e-mail address you posted should issues arise in the future. It's looking much better on my end, and I'm on my PC now (Windows XP), rather than on the Mac which has been nearly problem free throughout. Many others have expressed technological difficulties over the last few weeks, but the concerns escalated recently.

Do you need any further information from us in order to analyze the problem(s)?

Please let us know when it's been resolved. Thank you!

I agree. It appears that posts are staying up once posted and they are not disappearing. I use a lap top, Windows and have never had a problem in the past. This started about two weeks ago. Will keep fingers crossed and thank you for your immediate attention.

I sent this as an e-mail a minute ago to the person who wrote to us on Monday. Will double post it on Deb's newest "High Desert" thread. Just not sure what, if anything, she can see.

Hello,

Thanks for your help. The problem has been resolved on my computers (desktop with Windows; Mac laptop), but someone reported ongoing difficulty this morning. This is her post:

"Good Morning All, The site still messed up...can't read recent posts. Maybe they will come in later. This is frustrating. What am I doing wrong?? Any answers?"

I suggested that she clear the cache on her browser, but have no idea if she can access my message. What can we do about this?

Thanks again. Please respond on the website.
