Rayner Unwin's reader's report on The Hobbit, written when he was age ten.

Rayner Unwin (1925-2000) was, more than anyone else, Tolkien's publisher. After he went to work at his father's firm in 1951, he was responsible for seeing Tolkien's works through publication for the rest of Tolkien's life and for long afterward. Rayner Unwin succeeded his father as chairman of George Allen & Unwin on his father's death in 1968. His delightful memoir of the family firm, George Allen & Unwin: A Remembrancer, appeared in 1999. It contains two long chapters recounting his experiences publishing Tolkien.
