Tips for Using the Curious Baby Books with Children
Laugh, Listen, and Learn with your curious baby!
Notes for Moms, Dads, & Caregivers
Curious Baby Counting
- Let baby handle the book and engage his senses by feeling, shaking, and moving the beads.
- The wooden beads can act first as a rattle and then as a counting device for babies of different ages.
- Point to each farm animal as you read its name. Make the noises associated with each animal—babies love to make these noises themselves!
Curious Baby Music Play
- Listen to the music on the CD together both when you’re reading the book and when you’re not.
- Use your voice, by humming with the melody, to help your baby distinguish the difference between high and low notes, soft and slow notes.
- Cuddle up together when your baby is tired and listen to the music—it can help soothe her and you!
- Pick your baby up and sway or dance to the beat—whether it’s a gentle or more soaring one—of the music together to help him gain a sense of how rhythm works.
- Stress the rhythm of the verses in the text. Words can be musical too!
- Play many different kinds of music for your baby. By introducing your curious baby to books and music at a very young age, you increase the likelihood that he’ll love both later in life.
