General

Q: When a definition is read aloud, a word is pronounced differently from the written or spoken pronunciation listed in the dictionary. Which is correct?

A: The definitions are synthesized speech, and the spoken pronunciations are a real speaker. Given the immense quantity of words in the Dictionary, we cannot guarantee that all words are pronounced accurately by the synthesized text-to-speech technology. The Dictionary's written and audio pronunciations should be your authority.

A: Start up Windows in Safe Mode. To start in Safe Mode, shut down and restart the computer and begin hitting F8 repeatedly. When presented with a list of choices, choose the first item. Log in as usual, and launch the installer again.
