Fourth Edition

Houghton Mifflin's premiere dictionary
by Editors of The American Heritage® Dictionaries

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition is Houghton Mifflin's premiere dictionary. This authoritative work, the largest of the American Heritage® dictionaries, contains over 200,000 boldface forms, and more than 33,000 written examples. The Fourth Edition incorporates more than 10,000 new words and senses. You can license the dictionary with audio pronunciations and over 900 of the carefully chosen pieces of color art that accompany the text of the actual dictionary. It continues to be frequently updated to reflect the constant change of the English language.

Houghton Mifflin also produces electronic versions of The American Heritage® College Dictionary, Third Edition and The American Heritage® Concise Dictionary, Third Edition. These are smaller versions of the AHD3 but still offer users authoritative, comprehensive coverage of the English Language.
